Synthesis
writing is a form of analysis related to comparison and contrast,
classification and division. On a basic level, synthesis requires the writer to
pull together two or more summaries, looking for themes in each text. In
synthesis, you search for the links between various materials in order to make
your point. Most advanced academic writing, including literature reviews,
relies heavily on synthesis.
- We must do a
compare and contrast esp within the lit review part
- Try make a
summary with specific theme which we may figure out while reading it
How to write a synthesis in writing a
review in an academic writing
-Read the text
carefully
-Find the key
word / main point
-Restate them
with OUR OWN WORDS briefly as TWO OR THREE SENTENCES only
-Organize our
own paper using the theme we found in past journals above
-In our paper,
subtopics must be SURROUNDING THE THEMES WE FOUND in their journals
-Next, our goal
is to look for, find, and address gaps in the research and how our own thesis
and research
will address these gaps (REFER TO NOTES ABOUT ‘A GAP’)
To Summarize;
Find key words
----- Write a summary ----- A Synthesis ----- Write about the GAP and how we
fix it in our paper.
